This article addresses possible socio-environmental alternatives that
favor the manner of rethinking a just and dignified society, based on a
culture guided by Christian teachings. The research problem focuses
on the absence of love and mercy, the strong and growing presence of
selfishness and greed, as causes that contribute to socio-environmental
problems. The investigation aims to present a culture that can embark
on a sustainable Christian life. The inspiration centered on the synergy
among the Encyclical Laudato Si’ (2015), Rom 8,22: “the whole of
creation groans and suffers as if in the pains of childbirth”, and the poem
The Statutes of Man (2002) manifests suffering and, at the same time,
hope, inviting us all to reflect on our commitment to a better world. It is
about dealing with conditioning factors capable of contributing to the
creation of a sustainable culture, in order to live integral ecology in its
fullness with love and passion for our “common home”.
