Abstract

The idea of the nation as a political concept is demystified, analyzing its definition and the concept of the nation-state. It questions the concept of nation and nationalism in the current context of the 21st century, aiming to clarify the idea of constructing a modern national community that embraces diversity.

Author Biography

Oscar Gracia Landaeta, Universidad Católica Boliviana

Bachelor of Philosophy and Letters from the Universidad Católica Boliviana "San Pablo" (2016), currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He is a researcher at the Research Laboratory in Communication and Humanities at the Universidad Privada Boliviana and a professor in the Communication program at that university (UPB). His areas of work include political philosophy, democratic institutional construction processes, and the role of identities in politics. Currently, he is also teaching in the Philosophy and Anthropology programs at the Universidad Católica Boliviana. He is a regular columnist for the newspaper Opinión (Cochabamba, Bolivia).
