Abstract

The principal characteristics, causes and consequences of
clericalism are presented. Fundamental elements of the category
“humility” are considered, illumined by the prophet Micah
and the way of proceeding pursued by Jesus Christ and his
followers. The links between Micah’s “walk humbly with your
God” and the synodality of the Church are explored: cultivating
humility as a vital attitude recognizes our dependence on God
and the equality of all his sons and daughters, and becomes the
hermeneutical key which permits the members of the People

of God to “journey together” in their identity, structure and
mission.
