Abstract

The discipular characteristics that Jesus grants to women in the Gospel
of St. John are analyzed in this article, with the intention of proposing
a new model of female presence in the Latin American Church today.
The current situation of women in the Church is contextualized using
magisterial documents, with a focus on Latin American reality in
particular. Through an analysis of Scriptural terms, the article aims to
respond to the question about women’s role in the Christian community
according to John’s Gospel and its implications for Latin American
women. Certain models and projections are proposed, taking into
account the final document of the Amazonian Synod.
