Abstract

This article seeks to articulate memetics with the vision of society as
a set of networks. The essence of the memetic perspective of culture
is summarized, and also the evolution of culture throughout history,
from primitive times to the present day. In this evolution networks will
be formed, made up of three elements: humans, energy and memes.
The unifying thread of these networks are three energy revolutions:
the cognitive, the agricultural and the industrial. Certain implications
of this Darwinist vision of culture are considered.
